Mary-Kate and Ashley Oslen have both created their own fashion empire and have become major icons in fashion at only 27 years old. After pursuing a long acting career, the two launched their couture fashion line, The Row, in 2007 which has been incredibly successful in the fashion industry and has won the twins the title of “womenswear designer of the year” at the CFDA Fashion Awards.
This looked opened the 2014 fall ready-to-wear runway show with a cowl-neck cashmere sweater and a matching asymmetric hand-knit skirt. The Row is know for its simple, well tailored designs and its rich fabrics. This collection featured 900-gram double-face cashmere, loose fitting mid-calf length skirts, A-line jackets with broad collars and fringed blanket wraps.
The line captured a casual elegance with its simplistic silhouettes and neutral colors. The models wore slouchy gray cashmere socks with oxford shoes.
What sets the Oslen twins’ label from other major fashion brands is its reinvention of basic pieces such as a coat or shift dress into a minimal loose fitting piece that is wearable and chic. Their designs incorporate elements of menswear, making the line both modern and practical.
